Award for the Best Popular Tapa in the XI Ruta de Cruces y Tapas
The headquarters of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Santa Cruz de La Palma hosted this morning the institutional awards ceremony for the XI edition of the Ruta de Cruces y Tapas, held between April 21 and May 7, and which counted with the participation of 16 hotel and restaurant establishments from the participating municipalities of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Breña Baja, Breña Alta and Villa de Mazo.
This initiative closes its 2023 edition with 4,465 tapas sold in a format that continues to be attractive both for palm trees, and for those who visit us.
During the closing ceremony of this latest edition, the jury appointed by the organization of the route made public this year’s awards, with the award for Best Popular Tapa going to our restaurant with the “Sal de Mar” tapa.
This institutional act was attended by the Minister of Economic Promotion, Employment and Commerce of the Cabildo de La Palma, Raquel Díaz, the Mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Juan José Neris and the Councilor for Tourism, Local Development and Market, Carla Rodriguez.
The closing ceremony was also attended by Emilio Murias Aumente, Secretary of Pymesbalta; Goretti Pérez Corujo, mayoress of Villa de Mazo; Jonathan de Felipe Lorenzo, mayor of Breña Alta; Miguel Pérez González, Councilor for Local Development of the Breña Baja City Council and on behalf of the Association of Entrepreneurs of the Historic Center of Santa Cruz de La Palma, María Laura Acosta Concepción.
The mayor of Santa Cruz de La Palma, Juan José Neris Hernández, acted as host at the closing of the eleventh edition of this route and congratulated both the participating establishments and the winners in the different draws. In this sense, he took the opportunity to encourage the hospitality sector and gastronomy professionals to give new impetus to this initiative after more than ten years in force.
«It is time to review proposals, adapt them to the current reality and demand of the clientele, increasingly demanding as an active ambassador of our cuisine, to consolidate an activity that can continue to generate local wealth, while promoting excellence, quality and gastronomic talent in the catering industry. It is time to innovate and go one step further so that it continues to be a benchmark for socioeconomic collaboration on the Island.”
For her part, the Councilor for Economic Promotion of the Island Council, Raquel Díaz, stressed during the event that “thanks to the participation of these establishments we have achieved the objective of revitalizing the region and fusing gastronomy and tradition, offering residents and visitors exquisite tapas made with the best of each kitchen.
«We have to highlight the importance of these types of routes and their dynamic nature when it comes to showing the excellence and flavors of our Island and its potential not only in terms of gastronomic tourism, but also due to the direct and indirect that it has in the primary and restaurant sector, valuing the talent of chefs from La Palma,” he added.
From the Delegation of La Palma of the Chamber of Commerce they recalled that for years they have made a firm commitment to Gastronomy on the island, supporting actions with an important track record such as the Ruta de las Cruces and being next to the establishments of the four participating municipalities, which together with the routers are the protagonists of this Route. In this sense, they have thanked the establishments for their involvement and effort to maintain this event, and also the routers and sponsors.
The event featured several of the award-winning route runners on this occasion, who were able to officially receive their lucky certification and the corresponding lots of prizes, up to ten, among which are stays in rural accommodation, gastronomic experiences and active leisure, technological material, cultural bonds, lots of palm products with denomination of origin, ceded by different companies and local entities.
This award is once again very special for our restaurant because it is an award directly chosen by the public, for which we want to thank everyone!
